We all like a bit of volume on our mobile devices, the iPhone and the iPad have several different volume settings, each one controlling a different thing. You have a volume setting for media, so you can turn your videos or music up and down, you also have the notification setting, which allows you to set the volume for the ring tone, your text tone and notifications. But, did you know that there are other volume settings that you can change where needed ?

A neat jailbreak tweak called Volume Mixer 2 gives you one single interface where you can make all your volume changes without having to keep flicking between different settings.
Some of you will most likely have the original Volume Mixer tweak and that will still work on the older iOS devices but Volume Mixer 2 is aimed at iOS 9 iPhones and iPads. Like the original, this tweak offers a number of different volume settings that you can change including :
- Bluetooth headset
- Bluetooth headphones
All of these can be changed individually, with different settings for each one so if you want your ringer time on maximum, you don’t have to have all the others set at maximum as well. The only thing missing from this latest version of the tweak is support for the Notification Center but it does still support the popular Activator tweak.
How to Configure Volume Mixer 2 :
When you download the tweak, a preferences pane is added to your Settings app and this is where you can adjust the various options. You will be able to configure:
- The Activator action to use to open the tweak interface
- The volume sliders that will be shown or hidden
- Whether the volume percentage sliders are hidden or shown
- The look of the interface with a choice of skins
- Enabling or disabling the background blur
- Colors for the left and right sliders, the thumb grabber and the text
In the Preferences you will see an option for Sort Order. This allows you to choose the sections you want disabled or enabled and in which order they show up. For example, if you don’t use a Bluetooth device, you could disable it from showing up.
Skins are great for those who like to theme their iOS devices and Volume Mixer 2 gives you a choice of 4 :
- Default iOS
- Cream Rectangle
- Cream Round
There are several colors to choose from for each of the UI elements that can be customized:
All in all, at $0.99, Volume Mixer 2 is a nice tweak for those who want to control their volume settings on a jailbroken device. You can get the tweak from the BigBoss repository on Cydia and use it with Activator. Free download also possible via 3rd party repo sources. If you already have the original tweak, you can upgrade to Volume Mixer 2 free.
