A little while ago we were introduced to an app called CallRecorder or AudioRecord – a jailbreak tweak that lets you record calls on your iPhone but only on the newer models. Because recording calls is actually illegal in many places, especially when you haven’t told the caller what you are doing, the tweak does it for you. And no, before you ask, you cannot disable this feature. The same developer, Elias Limneos has now come up with a new tweak called VoiceChanger. As the name suggests, it allows you to change your voice, for voice recording on Voice Memo, in a call or for video recording. When you have downloaded VoiceChanger, you can change the setup of it through your Settings App.

There is a choice of 5 different options for changing your voice.
- No Effect – keeps your voice normal
- Dark Lord

You must have one of these set once the tweak is downloaded even if it the No Effect setting. Unfortunately the voice quality needs a little bit of work especially on the last 2 options. However, these might be improved in future updates. If you want to use VoiceChanger during a call you can only do so by ending the call first. You will then need to exit out of the phone app, go into Settings and change your choice. Then you can redial the number and pick up the call where you left of, but in a different voice. It doesn’t have any ties with the Activator tweak unfortunately, otherwise this would have been a lot easier to do and it may have had better sound quality as well.

If you want to use VoiceChanger, it will cost you $2.99 through the BigBoss repo on Cydia. It is perhaps a little on the costly side for a tweak, especially one that has not been perfected yet, but it’s a neat tweak if you want to play a joke on your friends. We will keep you up to date with news of the untethered iOS jailbreak utility, as and when we hear anything to report.
