Disable “Trust this Computer” Alert

If you are a Windows user, more often than not when you connect your iOS device to your PC, you will get a message pop up asking if you trust this computer.  It doesn’t matter how many times you say yes to this message, it just keeps on appearing.

For those of you who are getting irritated by this there are a couple of things you can try to stop it from appearing.  Nobody knows why the message appears, whether it is a software issue or a problem with the USB cable.

Here are 3 ways to stop this message from appearing:

Update your Windows drivers to support Apple Mobile devices

  1. On your PC, open Control Panel
  2. Click on Hardware and Sounds
  3. Click on Device Manager  windows device manager
  4. Now right-click on your iOS device name and select Properties
  5. Select the Hardware tab and then Properties
  6. Now choose Driver  and select Update Driver
  7. Type in C:/Program Files/Common Files/Apple/Mobile Device Support/Drivers 
  8. Look for a driver called usbaap164 – click on it to download it. Apple Mobile Device Support Driversss

Disable the Driver

  1. Open your Control Panel
  2. Select Hardware & Sounds
  3. Select Device Manager 
  4. Select the iOS device and right-click it
  5. Select Properties,  then Hardware
  6. Select Properties > Driver, and then click on Disable

The pop up message should now not appear and your iOS device should now charge properly when connected.

Make sure iTunes is up to date

  1. Delete all Apple programs from your PC.  Do this by going into Control Panel > Programs and Features.  Delete iTunes, Apple Mobile Support, Apple Software Update, anything that is remotely connected to Apple itunes uninstall windows 8
  2. Reboot your PC and then reinstall iTunes [ext link], making sure it is the latest version.
