If you want to take screenshots of your iOS device, you would normally have to have carried out a jailbreak. There are several tweaks that are handy, such as ScreenRecorder or Display Recorder. There has never been much in the way of official apps to help out in this field, mainly because they don’t make it past the Approval team.

However, there is now one that you can use, without having to jailbreak your iOS device. It’s called xRec and it was developed by Akın Öğünç. It makes screenshot capturing easy, with no need to use a PC or any other piece of equipment to help.
You can download xRec (link below) from the App store for $1.99 and, once downloaded you need to go into Settings to set up.
Then, simply tap on Record > Start and then the Home button to exit the app. Continue to use your device as normal and xRec will be working away in the background. You will see a red recording bar at the top of your screen.
When you have recorded all you want, open up xRec and tap on Stop. Wait until it has finished encoding the video before you do anything else. How long this takes depends on the length of the video you have taken and how fast your device is.
You will find your screenshots in Videos in the app and out can then export them to your Camera Roll, Email, Google Drive or Dropbox. You do need an internet connection for this app to work though. If you hear a song instead of the app recording, double tap the home button, enter xRec, making sure you have an active internet connection.
