iTunes Music Sync Not Working

For some people their iOS device is a music machine. It’s a way of being able to listen to hundreds, even thousands of different tracks without having to keep changing CD’s.  However, since they upgraded to iOS 7.0.3, some users have been complaining that they can no longer sync their music.  below, we have outlined a couple of fixes that may just work for you:

Before you start : Make sure you are running the latest version of iTunes. You can download it here or:

  1. Open iTunes
  2. Click on Help
  3. Click on Check for Updates itunes update (1)
  4. Click on Update on the pop up message and iTunes will update to v11.1.2.

Solution 1

  1. Connect your iOS device to your computer and launch iTunes
  2. Click on the iPhone (device) tab
  3. Click Music
  4. Make sure Sync Music is unchecked – all options will be grayed out
  5. Click on Apply sync music itunes
  6. All of your music should be removed from your iPhone by doing this, except for music that has been purchased on the device, not your PC.
  7. Now go back to the Music tab and reselect the Sync Music check box unchecked above
  8. Select the playlists you want to put on your device and click on Apply
  9. If this doesn’t work, click on the General tab and Uncheck Manually Manage Music  – this has worked for some people manually manage music ios 7 itunes

You should now see your selected tracks on your device, ready to play.

Solution 2

  1. Connect your device and launch iTunes
  2. Click on Device Summary and select Restore
  3. Click Restore on the pop up message restore iphone itunes
  4. iTunes will now restore to the latest firmware
  5. When finished, set up your device as new, not from a backup.
  6. Now sync with iTunes and your music should appear on your device.

Provided it worked, all you will need to do is restore your personal details, either from a backup or manually

Solution 3

  1. Open iTunes
  2. Click on File
  3. Click on Export
  4. Export your library to your computer making sure the file directories are identical
  5. Now import the list back to iTunes
  6. On your iDevice, open Settings
  7. Tap on General
  8. Tap on Usage
  9. Tap on Music and delete your tracks
  10. Go back to iTunes and connect your device
  11. Click on the General tab and make sure the Manage Music Manually box is unchecked
  12. Click on Music and select the playlists you want to sync
  13. Click on apply and wait for the process to be completed.

Solution 4

  1. Connect your device and computer and open iTunes
  2. Click on Store and select Deauthorize this Computer, input your Apple login
  3. Once your computer has been deauthorized, Click on Store and click on Authorize this Computer and enter your Apple login details again

iTunes Authorization is a basic procedure that lets Apple know your purchases are yours.  Sometimes, these things need to be turned off and then on again just to clear out any stale data
