It’s official. The iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus have been announced in all their glory. With new features, new color and new storage capacity, iOS fans are in for a real treat with the next generation of handsets so let’s take a closer look at what to expect.

iPhone 7 | 7 Plus Features :
Design – in terms of design there isn’t too much change here from the previous iPhone with the main change being the antenna bands which are now almost invisible on the top and bottom edges of the handsets.
Colors – One color is dropped from the range while two more are added. Space grey goes but the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will both be available in 5 colors:
- Rose Gold
- Jet Black
Display – The screen sizes will remain as 4.7” and 5.5” and the resolution also remains the same but we do get a Retina HD display which is 25% brighter than the iPhone 6S and featuring wide color gamut and new color management features
3D Touch – One of the more popular features introduced on the iPhone, the 3D Touch pressure sensors have been upgraded to provide better and more accurate input
Performance – The latest processor from Apple is the quad-core A10, couple with the M10 co-processor and called the A10 Fusion. In terms of performance, the new chip offers 40% more performance than the iPhone 6S/6S Plus and up to 50% more graphical performance than the A9 processor
Camera – The one feature that people have been waiting to see and it won’t disappoint. This is the biggest camera upgrade ever produced for an iPhone and is the one feature that separates the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus.
- iPhone 7 – finally gets OIS (optical image stabilization) to complement the 12 MP rear camera. The iPhone 7 has a 1/2.6 sensor, a ƒ/1.8 aperture and is far superior than previous iPhone models for low-light shooting. The Facetime camera also gets an upgrade to 7 MP
- iPhone 7 Plus – As well as all of the features on the iPhone 7, the 7 Plus goes one step further and gives us the much rumored dual-lens camera, with two 12 MP lenses – on wide angle and one telephoto – along with 2X zoom. Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus also get True Tone flash with no less than 4 LEDs.
Home Button – The iPhone 6S/6S Plus may go down in history as being the last to feature a mechanical home button as the next generation handset features an impressive Force-Sensitive Touch ID button that also has a Taptic engine for better feedback
Proximity Sensors – These have been improved on both handsets, allowing hand gestures to be detected and working better in low light
Dust and Water Resistant – The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are both IP67 rated for water and dust resistance. The iPhone can now be used in water at a depth of 1 meter for up to half an hour
Headphone Jack – As rumored, the 3.5mm headphone jack has gone and will be replaced by lightning connecters. New Lighting-enabled headphones will be made available with the new iPhones along with a 3.5mm to Lightning adaptor to accommodate older headphone sets
Speakers – For the first time ever on the iPhone, we have stereo speakers, thanks to the removal of the headphone jack
Battery Life – Battery life is slightly longer than the iPhone 6S/6S Plus thanks to small increases in battery size
Storage Capacity – We see some significant changes here with both the 16 GB and 64 GB storage options being ditched. 32 GB s now the smallest option, with 128 GB and 256 GB completing the line-up
Accessories – Along with the Lightning-Enabled earpods, Apple also announce the AirPods, new wireless ear pods with Bluetooth connectivity, long with a range of cases for both models n both leather and silicon.
Price and Date of Availability :
Pre-ordering begins on September 9th and both handsets will officially go on sale in some countries on September 16th and on 23rd, with Apple rolling out across more countries over the coming months. In terms of price, they are no different from the iPhone 6S/6S Plus and you can expect to pay:
iPhone 7 :
- 32 GB – $199 on contract or $649 unlocked
- 128 GB – $299 on contract or $749 unlocked
- 256 GB – $399 on contract or $849 unlocked
iPhone 7 Plus :
- 32 GB – $299 on contract or $769 unlocked
- 128 GB – $399 on contract or $869 unlocked
- 256 GB – $499 on contract or $969 unlocked
