It’s been a busy few months for Apple as they rush out update after update in an attempt to fix the many bugs that have shown up in iOS 9. Very little in the way of new features has shown up, in part because the Cupertino Company is also working on iOS 10, due for release in September, and partly because iOS 9 has to be stabilized and debugged as much as possible before any new iOS version can be introduced.

One thing that has been missing in all this time is a jailbreak. The lack of communication from both Taig and Pangu in recent months has left a lot of users unhappy and believing that we may not ever see another jailbreak. Yes, we’ve seen a number of videos and photos that show jailbreak but not one of them has been released to the public for one reason or another. The last public jailbreak we had was way back when iOS 9.1 was released – we are now on iOS 9.3, and just a matter of weeks away from iOS 10.
When will the Next Jailbreak Be ?
At the beginning of July, Pangu co-hosted MOSEC, the one-day mobile security conference that takes place every year. During the conference, a well as showing off a now patched iOS 10 jailbreak [ext link] for iOS 10 beta 1 the team also hinted at an upcoming jailbreak for iOS 9.3. After another wait with no word from Pangu, all of a sudden, that jailbreak is here and, for the first time in many months, we can now download Cydia on iOS 9.3.
Before we talk about how to download the latest jailbreak, there is a little information that you need to know. the jailbreak was released in conjunction with PP Assistant, a team that you may remember Taig accused of stealing their exploits. After a couple of successful jailbreaks, PP disappeared off the scene but are now back with Pangu. The jailbreak is called PPHelper but, before you go rushing off to download it, first make sure that your device is compatible with it .
Cydia iOS 9.3 Compatibility :
- If you are running a Windows computer system, you can use PPHelper. Mac users will have to wait a little longer until a dedicated Cydia tool is released for them.
- If you have a 32-bt device, you cannot use PPHelper as it is only compatible with 64-bit devices. This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, when Apple is gradually phasing out the older devices. Just to clarify things, if your device is on the following list, you can download PPHelper:
- iPhone 5S, 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, SE
- iPad Air, Air 2
- iPad Mini 2, Mini 3, Mini 4
- iPad Pro
- iPod Touch 6
Lastly, the utility has been released only in Chinese. We are expecting an English version to be released but, in the meantime, we have come up with a full step by step tutorial, complete with images, to walk you through the entire jailbreak process.
