BioLockDown – Security App from Cydia

Ryan Petrich is one of the most active iOS 7 jailbreak tweak developers about at the moment. It has to be said that, no matter what he comes up with, you just know it’s going to be worth downloading.  He has already given us useful tweaks such as Activator , FlipSwitch and BrowserChooser and now he has another one for us.

It’s called BioLockDown and it is one of the best, although not the first, tweaks that uses the Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the A7 processor.  It works by stopping unauthorized access to your Control Center, system settings and apps unless your fingerprint is in the system.

BioLockDown is a very easy tweak to use because there is no need to set up and configure it. All you do is install it, head into your Settings app and look for BioLockDown and then tap on it to enable it.

You can then enter the Restrictions settings and add in the restrictions you want to set.  There are currently 3 different types of restrictions supported:

Switches :

These are your Control Center toggles. The tweak can be used on all toggles, not just stock ones but those that have been added as part of another jailbreak tweak as well.

Apps :

Applies to all installed apps

Settings Panes :

These are the options that you find under Settings.  You can enable any or all of these to be restricted unless fingerprint authentication is used.

On top of all that, you can also use BioLockDown to lock itself down, meaning that unless the Touch ID sensor authenticates the correct fingerprint, the tweaks settings cannot be changed.

You can purchase BioLockDown from the BigBoss repository for just $1.99, making it one of the cheapest Touch ID tweaks around at the moment.

    • I’m impressed, I have to say. Really not often do I eoucnnter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me let you know, you have hit the nail on the head. Your concept is outstanding; the problem is one thing that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I’m very glad that I stumbled across this in my search for something referring to this.
