iOS 8.4.1 is one of the most hated iOS firmwares for the simple reason that it patched the iOS 8.4 jailbreak and thus deprived jailbreakers of their freedom. As iOS 8.4.1 was a very short lived version and iOS 9 arrived just few days later, the whole jailbreak community started praying for an iOS 9 jailbreak [ext link] .

It was just a few weeks ago when Pangu demonstrated a jailbreak for iOS 8.4.1 [ext link] at a security conference. However, the team had no intentions of making the jailbreak public, as they did not want to lose iOS 9 exploits. And with iOS 9.1 Jailbreak [ext link] in the pipeline, everybody has their eyes set on an iOS 9.1 jailbreak finally.
iOS 8.4.1 Yalu Jailbreak Released !
Now jailbreak lovers don’t need to wait for Team Pangu or Team TaiG to give them a new jailbreak. The source code of an iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak has been released by an exploit developer cum student in Italy named Luca Todesco [twitter handle – @qwertyoruiop]. This source code can be used to create a jailbreaking tool for iOS 8.4.1 easily.
Those who do not know about Luca Todesco, he had uncovered two zero-day exploits in OS X Yosemite in August. Todesco has uploaded the source code of the iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak on GitHub [ext link] and has codenamed it Yalu. He has described the upload as a source code of an incomplete iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak.
By incomplete jailbreak, Luca means that the source code is a tethered code, and the reason why he has not uploaded the untethered boot code is that it does not belong to him, so he cannot release it at the moment.
Incomplete Cydia 8.4.1 :
The source code provides access to OpenSSH and can be used by advanced users to jailbreak iOS 8.4.1. But please note that this incomplete jailbreak cannot install Cydia, so we recommend you to not even try it.
Average users cannot use the source code as of now, as it requires in-depth technical knowledge about jailbreaking. However, someone will surely create a jailbreak tool out of it and release it for others. Luca has tweeted saying that Yalu for iPhone 6 will be released soon, indicating that he is working on the Yalu jailbreak.
Meanwhile, if you are not sure how to use the source code released by Luca, it is better to stay away from it rather than do something that could harm your iOS device. In case you are still on iOS 8.4.1 and have not updated to iOS 9, then we suggest that you wait patiently for a few more days, as an iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak is inevitable now that the source code is out.
