No Cydia Icon after Jailbreak

Home Cydia How to iOS 7

For many people, the new iOS 7 untethered jailbreak utility, evasi0n 7, has caused a number of problems. Mostly these problems have been caused by incompatibility issues and your iPhone or iPad iOS version being updated using the Over the Air method.

no cydia icon fix

Many of the issues have now been sorted out with a couple of updates to the jailbreak and updates to apps, to Cydia and to MobileSubstrate.  For those of you who have not yet jailbroken their devices, you can follow our full guide to doing so and also take a look at the article here.

One problem that seems to be common is that, after jailbreaking, some people are finding that their Cydia icon goes missing, along with a few of the stock app icons, most notably the Settings one.  There are a couple of things you can try here .

Method 1 – No Cydia Icon Fix :

  1. Make sure your passcode lock has been removed – if your settings app icon is still visible
  2. Connect your iPhone to your PC and make sure iTunes launches
  3. Now place your iPhone into DFU – hold Home and Power buttons together for 10 seconds; release Power and continue holding Home until iTunes pops up an iPhone in Recovery message
  4. Click on Restore and let iTunes restore your iPhone to the latest iOS version.
  5. Hopefully you took a backup of the data on our iPhone before you applied the jailbreak in the first place.
  6. You can now reinstall the jailbreak, using the latest version of Evasi0n 7 for your operating system
  7. Everything should now work OK.

Another method of solving this issue that has worked for several people is .

Method 2 :

  1. Plug your iPhone into your PC
  2. Launch evasi0n 7 from you PC again
  3. Click on Jailbreak
  4. When Evasi0n asks you to click on the Evasi0n icon on your Home screen, DO NOT DO IT
  5. Instead, disconnect your iPhone from the PC
  6. Press on the Evasi0n icon until wiggles – delete it by tapping the cross in the corner
  7. Reboot your iPhone and the Cydia icon should now be back. If it is, you can go ahead and restore your data from your iTunes or iCloud backup.
  8. If it doesn’t come back you will need to follow the steps above to restore and start again.

Evad3rs are releasing regular updates to evasi0n 7 so, if your problems are not solved with one update, restore and wait for the next one to arrive.

I tried everything from above and I am never getting this Cydia-Iconappthing. Only the evasion icon. Tapping this, just gives a white screen. Reset my phone a few times as test…

Mine is doing the same thing. Have tried all the steps and no Cydia icon…

It will work. If you are running beta release from evasion7 restore then run 1.0.0 thru 1.0.2. Hope this works because it worked for me.

    • Alan Anderson says:

I have tried everything above, both methods, reinstalled several times but no luck. I never get the cydia app icon. Looks like many people have the same issue but seems to be no real fix for it.

Sorry I know only how to reboot in Ipad. Press at the same time the central bottom button and the one on the top side till you see a black screen then release. (Pulsa el botón del centro, el redondo, y al mismo tiempo el de arriba, cuando veas la pantalla en negro suéltalos.)

While this is not a full fix, it is a workaround and will allow you to access Cydia via your Home Screen in iOS7

    1) Access Cydia via Internet

    2) Search for and Download “Activator” from Cydia

    3) After downloading/installing, go in to Activator via settings

    4) Choose the “At Home Screen”

    5) Under “Home Button” pick out a motion (such as) “triple
    click home button.

    6) Scroll Down to “System Applications”

    7) Choose Cydia

Now, once (for example) “triple Click Home Button” has been assigned, all you need to do is triple click the home button from the springboard/home screen and Cydia should pop up.

In most cases it appears as though the pathway to Cydia remains on the Jailbroken ios7 device(s), yet the icon disappears.

Yes I know this is not a solution to bring the icon back, but it is a temporary fix via which you can still access Cydia until someone comes up with a tweak/solution to make the icon visible again.

Found permanent fix for the issue with no cydia app icon after jailbreaking IOS 7 with Evasion tool YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESTORE DEVICE !!!!! plus if apple isn’t signing for the iOS your currently on you risk having to update to latest 7.1 which does not have a working jailbreak out for it at this time and probably won’t have one as the evasion team gears up and are working on iOS 8 jailbreak ….
this is has only been tested and proven to work if you have already successfully jailbroken your iDevice and cydia icon is no where to be found on home screen and or dragging top screen down and doing search for the app itself
    here’s how to fix issue
    1. plug device into Mac or PC
    2. close out of any apps that auto start like iTunes, iPhoto, exedra
    3. if icon pops up on the device to trust this PC click trust
    4. start the evasion jailbreak tool process do not take your eyes off computer screen and keep your iPad iPhone unlocked and on last home page where the evasion app loads to that you would normally press to complete the final process HOW EVER soon as you see the evasion app load on home screen don’t rush wait for when evasion tool on PC says it’s on 2 of 2 process when u see that press and long hold on the evasion app on home screen to give u option to delete app click on the x and complete deleting that evasion app …
    5. soon as your evasion tool says it’s rebooting your devices and you get the black screen on the iDevice with the white circle loader spinning immediately unplug iDevice from PC and what for iDevice to reboot you should then be greeted with the white evasion screen stating it’s loading cydia and other files wait for device to reboot to normal home screen and have fun playing with you iDevice that now has cydia app on your home screen and any other cydia apps you may have installed prior to cydia disappearing this was tested on multiple devices iPad and iPhone running 7.0.4, 7.0.6, 7.1 Final beta version only

    • vietnam-man says:

      works greats!
when evasion tool on PC says it’s on 2 of 2 process waits 5 sec then delete the evasion. the most important thing is`:after reboot its must enter the WHITE EVASION SCREEN. one more thing
i used 1.0.5 to do this!

      tks dude, you save me!

      • Ste says:

it ing works thx to both of you guys. used 1.0.5 on a PC !
The timing is important, be sure to do like vietnam-man says

        thankk youuuuuu !!!!!

      • Daniel_zgz says:

Do it exactly how vietnam man says and it will work, but keep in mind the ios version of your Ipad/Iphone. In my case, with ios 7.0.4 I’ve used evasion 1.0.5 (every time I did it with evasion 1.0.7 it went wrong).
After the reboot, the evasion screen shows up and the proccess continue itself, at the end you will see the cydia apps again, howeverif cydia is still not working you can do the following (tested):
        1.- delete de following file:
You will see the cydia icon again but it won’ t work.
3.- install the last cydia deb from saurik web.
        4.- reboot
        It will work!

I have edited this theme in order to dpasliy the time in 12hr format. It now dpasliys time as: 04:20pm. I claim no credit for the original theme, but I LOVE it! I myself NEVER use military time so it was annoying me to no end, almost to the point of not using the theme, then I was tinkering around and figured out what needed to be done to fix it. My apologies to the author if this upsets you, this was not my intention and if you need any help as to how I did it, please let me know (Although I’m sure you know how to implement this function already). I’m assuming with all that went into this theme, there’s probably a reason you didn’t include this option from the beginning?

    • Rybena says:

Has anyone tried this yet. Does it work like MyWi or does it work like pdnaet? I just simply want to connect laptops to my iphone’s 3g and I tried iTether, but that so far was a waste of money. doesn’t do what I need. I think it only works for iPads. Anyway, pdnaet works fine for me, but I have pdnaet installed on my laptop. I would like to be at work and have another persons laptop get on the internet through my phone without downloading something on their laptop.

    I have a different situation:
My jailbreak worked as expected, my Cydia icon was there.
But after some time, I wanted to get something and noticed it disappeared! Still, my AppSync works, since I can still install .ipa files with ifunbox.
I remember Resetting all my settings because of an AppStore problem, maybe that’s the cause of the missing cydia icon. I have no intention of re-jailbreaking at all, because a friend of mine tried it too and his iPad got stuck rebooting. I tried to put it in DFU mode, but I just couldn’t time the buttons right!
So, if there’s any other solution, please let me know!
