Tuesday 22nd October was the day that Apple unveiled their new iPad 5th Gen and iPad Mini 2 retina at a media event in the Yerba Bueno Center in San Francisco.  The big question on many people’s lips is, how will this fit in with the iOS 7 untethered jailbreak ?

Recently, evad3rs conformed that they may have everything they need to build the utility now but they have taken some time out to answer this question for us.  The jailbreak teams have always waited for the entire lineup of new products for a season to be released before going ahead with a new jailbreak.  There is a very good reason for this.

Knowing what devices are out gives the developers a chance to make sure the jailbreak utility supports all of them.  If they chose to bring put the untethered jailbreak utility now there’s an extremely high chance that Apple will patch the exploits before the developers can add in support for new devices, in this case the new iPad range.

By waiting until the iPad Mini 2 and iPad 5 are out, they can ensure that everybody has a chance to enjoy the fruits of their labor before Apple steps in and shuts down the party.  Both of the new iPads are being unveiled on 22nd October, at which point we will know when they are being released.  Whether this will have any impact on the release of the iOS 7 untethered jailbreak timing will not be known until after the event.

However, we do know that work is well and truly under way and it just remains to be seen how much more work the new iPads will give the developers before they can release the jailbreak.  Follow us on TwitterFacebook and subscribe to our newsletter to stay up to date as we bring you the latest news from the media event and news on the untethered iOS 7 jailbreak as we learn of it.

Ugh, come on already! They probably can’t make a jailbreak so they are using the new devices release excuse to buy them time. Just jailbreak 7.0.3 and then add support for iPad 5 & iPad Mini 2 later.. No one has them now so no one cares!

Or they could just be waiting for ios 7.1 which will take a long time to release
